Wendy, Wendy, Wendy, you little ray of sunshine. heh heh I'm kidding. This was a great post.

But it does make me happy to be where I am--unpublished, no agent, no pressure.

I'm thinking I must be resting in the Lothlorien of my Writer's Journey.

An unpublished novelist is probably in the best place of all. My only challenge is to learn to write well. That's a constant challenge but also a constantly changing challenge. I learn one thing but there is another thing right there needing to be learned. So the journey is never boring. It's a good place to be.

I identify with what Rachel said. Add to that the fact that I'm approaching 65--albeit a YOUNG 65! I'm recognizing how quickly the decades pass and also the increased pressure today's successful writers face.

Regardless, I feel God's call to write about what I've learned during my lifetime--especially now that I have the benefit of hindsight and increased wisdom. And, whether I break through or not, I'll have been obedient. That in itself is noteworthy!

ONE challenge? LOL, sometimes I feel I face a million! I supposed the most difficult right now is continuing to believe I'll break through and publish full novels and nonfiction books, despite the poor odds in the current economic climate. To avoid the tempters, I focus on voices I trust: my husband's; yours, Wendy; and those of people who have loved my writing (particularly one sad widower who told my physician husband, "I can't wait for Wednesdays because I know I'll read your wife's column, and I'll laugh.")I face my wussiness in prayer and ask God for a renewed sense of humor, which not only helps my writing, but simultaneously keeps me optimistic and realistic--and keeps me grinning!
