I admit, I'm a guy, and maybe that is part of why this book would put me to sleep. But I think the real reasons are exactly what you pointed out. I think a good term for twentysomething readers is "fidgety"--at least it is for me. If the plot is sitting still, I can't. I'm curious to know if this plot would appeal to "older" readers. Groan.
